Database Server
A database server is a computer and computer program that
are stocked with information and connected with to a network, but not
necessarily the internet. Hospitals, police departments, government
institutions and other facilities that have to keep track of large amounts
of information, as well as keep it secure and private use these types
of servers.
A database server usually has much more memory space than other servers.
This allows them to stock as much information as possible and back that
information up as well. They are also built with lots of random access
memory, or RAM, so they can access that information quickly and efficiently.
They are also generally kept together in one room, providing more security
and easier access for maintenance.
A database server works in a master-slave configuration when multiple
servers are connected together. This means that one computer is controlling
all the other computers. They are acting as back-ups or proxies to the
master server computer which contains the main information.
